Jon Durnford, MBA | President

Jon Durnford is the founder and President of DataLake Nonprofit Research. For nearly 20 years DataLake has provided management, research, and information technology services to the nonprofit sector working with organizations like the National Council of Nonprofits, Association of Fundraising Professionals, Giving Tuesday, and more.
After working in the for-profit sector, Jon began working in the nonprofit sector as the Chief Operating Officer for the Association of Performing Arts Presenters, later serving as the Interim Executive Director. Since then his career has included working with arts & culture, healthcare, academic, and foundation communities.
Jon is a former Affiliated Scholar at the National Center for Charitable Statistics (NCCS, Urban Institute) where for fifteen years he managed all nonprofit databases and directed the regular compilation of the NCCS Core data file, the primary source of nonprofit organizational data currently available to researchers. Jon is coauthor of “Causes Count – The Economic Power of California’s Nonprofit Sector” (2014, 2019) and the Urban Institute’s “The Scope and Activities of 501(c)(3) Supporting Organizations.”
